1- Could you briefly introduce yourself: your company, your position, your responsibilities?

 

"Jean Sebastien Beaucamps, I work at SODEXO and I am in charge of partnerships within the digital group, as well as investments by being in charge of the management of SODEXO's Corporate Ventures fund called Sodexo Ventures."

2- For what type of need did you call upon CyberSecura? What was the trigger?

 

"The trigger was a due diligence: we were in the process of investing, through SODEXO Ventures, in a Chinese company, specialised in computer vision, in order to do dish recognition at the time of checkout thanks to a camera. I therefore called on CyberSecura as part of this due diligence in order to be supported in assessing the quality of the algorithm and the teams in which we were ready to invest."

3- Why did you choose to entrust these missions to CyberSecura rather than to someone else?

 

"We have a person in the SODEXO data lab who knew CyberSecura, so we had a recommendation from one of our experts, since we are dealing with very technical and significant financial issues. It was following this recommendation from our employee that we decided to work with CyberSecura."

4- Did you have any fears before setting up the project?

 

"No, I didn't have any fears, except for those related to the complexity of investing in a Chinese company: very different cultures and sometimes the language barrier which can be an obstacle to cooperation. But everything went very well."

5- In your opinion, what are the challenges facing your business today (digitisation of the business, securing products, infrastructure)?

 

"We have challenges in all these areas: with the data lab we are trying to anticipate the next stage, but we are still very much behind on the foundations, such as access to data and its quality, security issues and the cybersecurity risks that exist in our infrastructure in general. 

We will continue to invest in AI companies, mainly internationally. That will require a thorough technical assessment, and I think for that CyberSecura can be very helpful."

6- How would you describe the work carried out by CyberSecura and its team, in just a few words?

 

"Very collaborative, and very professional."

7- What are the results of this collaboration?

 

"The main benefit of this collaboration is that CyberSecura knew well the company we were going to invest in and work with: we decided to keep CyberSecura in order to professionalise certain aspects of this start-up which was still very early-stage. This allowed the management and technical teams to gain speed on their professionalization, and it made it easier to work with SODEXO."

8- What did you appreciate the most in the solution provided by CyberSecura?

 

"The most important thing for me was to have a go from our data lab and IT at SODEXO thanks to the work of CyberSecura. CyberSecura allowed us to clarify the company's strengths and risks, and the recommendations to address them. We had a clear roadmap to improve the robustness of the solution and work together with confidence."

9- What advice would you give to companies facing the same problem / having the same project as you? 

 

"The value of the company we have invested in lies in the team and the algorithm developed. Having a precise assessment of the quality of this algorithm is therefore a prerequisite before making any investment decision."

10- Would you recommend CyberSecura to others? Yes / No, for what reason(s)?

 

"Yes, I would advise CyberSecura around me, because the team managed to adapt, on the one hand to the sometimes complex governance of a large company like SODEXO, but also to the very specific context of this project with a Chinese company. CyberSecura even had to go to China to finalise this project, and the feedback I got from the technical teams and our partner was very positive."
